Designing a shop: The shop, one that is remembered.
Three shops on the same street, the same range of products available online too — and yet people still come in. Because it’s worth being here. What a shop sells first and foremost these days is an experience: products you want to look at, tranquillity rather than noise, an image that stays with you on your way home. That’s exactly what Moos is all about.
Three truths about Shops you tend to forget about
Replaceable on your own street
The same shelving system, the same lighting, the same white wall — the shop looks just like three others on the same street. And everything inside is also available online. What remains is the place itself: it must be an experience, not just a warehouse with a till.
Anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable won’t stay
How long people stay isn’t a question of square metres, but of atmosphere. A room that feels harsh and noisy drives people towards the door. Genuine natural materials have a calming effect — precisely where decisions are made.
Plants are dying in the shop window
Artificial light, corners with no natural light, no one in the team who can be relied upon to water them: the idea of having plants is a good one, but it falls at the first hurdle when it comes to looking after them. After a few weeks, there’s just a brown mess in the window.
Shop fitting and exhibition stands: one space, two performances
In shop fitting, what counts is what lasts: a Moss wall is installed once and adorns the wall for years — without the need for watering, without having to be replaced each season, and without the need for a power supply for grow lights. This makes it the most cost-effective long-term solution for the wall everyone’s talking about.
The same material is used for the exhibition stand, but in a more flexible form: framed Moss Pictures and Lettering made from moss move from trade fair to trade fair and then into the shop. Freestanding elements can be assembled in a way that allows for reuse, whilst room dividers section off the stand and, at the same time, reduce the noise level in the hall — up to 60% sound absorption.
We provide everything your shopfitter or exhibition stand builder needs: dimensions, construction, weight and assembly method. You can check the material in person beforehand using the Sample box.
The signature wall — the subject being photographed
Recognition begins with the wall that makes people stop in their tracks.
A moss wall turns your shop’s back wall into its signature feature — the one design that no one else on the street has. With Your logo as an inlay, dyed to depth using the MOOSMOOS ‘Druckpräparation+’ process and, on request, in your brand’s colour, it also becomes a photographic motif: what customers share of their own accord generates reach that no one charges for. On a smaller scale, the same signature style begins with framed Moss pictures above the till or in the shop window.
The sales area — well-being at the point of sale
People who feel at ease stay longer — and browse the shop differently.
Concrete, glass and hard surfaces reflect every sound; consultations and conversations at the till become tiring for both parties. Moss absorbs up to 60% of sound in accordance with DIN EN ISO 354 — whether used on walls, ceilings or as freestanding room divider, which also forms a zone. In addition, there is what Biophilic Design explains: Genuine natural materials in a room have a calming effect without anyone having to think about it.
The area without an automatic watering system — still green, even in the dark corner
No water, no light, no pruning — even in places where the sun never shines.
Preserved moss no longer grows and therefore needs nothing: no watering between appointments, no plant care to fit into the rota, no lamp for the dark corner — 100% maintenance-free, with a lifetime guarantee on the moss. This is also the more honest answer to the question of sustainability that your customers ask: 100% genuine moss, handcrafted — built to last rather than being seasonal decoration; manufactory rather than mass-produced.

Frequently asked questions off the shelf
We don’t have anyone to look after the plants — what does that mean for a Moss wall?
Nothing. Preserved moss is 100% maintenance-free: no water, no light, no pruning, no maintenance schedule. What you do and don’t need to do is set out in the Care Guide.
Does it work in corners without natural light as well?
Yes — preserved moss does not need light. Artificial light only, windowless alcoves and deep sales areas are no obstacle; all that is needed is normal indoor air.
Will that help with the echo in the shop?
Measurable: up to 60% sound absorption in accordance with DIN EN ISO 354 — on walls and ceilings or as Room divider between the till and the consultation area.
Can we incorporate our logo and brand colour into the moss?
Yes — as an inlay or lettering, as well as special shapes in your brand’s design. The deep colouring achieved using the MOOSMOOS Druckpräparation+ process allows you to choose your desired shade.
Just how sustainable is that really?
Very — because the surface lasts, rather than being replaced every season. 100% genuine preserved moss, handcrafted in Oppach in Oberlausitz; manufactory since 1998, with over 25,000 projects completed since 2016. The moss comes with a lifetime guarantee.
What about fire safety in the sales area?
Classified in accordance with DIN EN 13501-1. For projects with specific requirements, we manufacture appropriately treated versions; the additional cost is calculated on a project-by-project basis.
How much does it cost — and is leasing an option?
In the draft, we set a figure for it; alternatively, it is offered as a lease for business customers. The logic behind this is explained by the Cost Guide.
