MOOSMOOS
Guide — Leasing, Costs & Investments

How much does a Moss wall cost? The honest answer.

Most suppliers hide their prices; some undercut each other — we do neither. Here you’ll find transparent starting prices, genuine example projects and the reasons why a MOOSMOOS wall is priced slightly differently to mail-order products.

A bespoke Moss wall by MOOSMOOS in a modern reception area
The short answer

Moss Pictures from our manufactory begin with the Online shop at around 100 €, bespoke Moss walls at around 400 €/m² — a single wall panel for the home is therefore available for a price in the mid three-figure range. Prestigious commercial projects — from the reception area to the foyer — typically cost between 3.000 € and 20.000 €. In return, you’ll receive deep-coloured moss from our own harvest, handmade in Germany — with a lifetime guarantee. Read on to find out why this makes a difference.

Are you looking for a single Moss picture rather than a project canvas? If so, you’ll find ready-to-post sizes with clear prices directly in the Online boutique.

What defines the framework

Four factors are decisive about your investment

1

The area — and the degression

For larger areas, the planning, composition and logistics are spread over a greater number of square metres: a 15-m² wall works out noticeably cheaper per square metre than a 2-m² wall. That is why we quote for projects on a case-by-case basis rather than using a fixed price list.

2

Types of moss & composition

Iceland moss, flat moss and Pole Moss differ in terms of material and the amount of work involved in their installation. The cost of a flat Iceland moss wall is calculated differently to that of a sculptural Pole Moss landscape or a jungle wall featuring stabilised plants.

3

Embossing, Logos & Custom Shapes

Your moss logo, curved surfaces, recesses or ceiling features require additional manual work in our manufactory. The surcharge depends on the design and technique used — we will set out the cost clearly in the design proposal.

4

Assembly & Logistics

We usually install prefabricated elements in a single day, without causing any mess — throughout Germany and internationally. The cost of installation depends on the area, travel distance and substrate, and is itemised separately.

The difference in price

Why a MOOSMOOS wall costs a little more — and costs less than you might think

Deep colouring instead of a coat of varnish

Our moss is dyed right through during the ‘Druckpräparation+’ process — the colour is embedded in the material, not just on the surface. Moss that has only been treated on the surface turns grey and becomes hard and brittle over the years; this is precisely why many suppliers themselves state that it will last for up to five years at most. A varnish coating is even more detrimental: it seals off the open structure — such moss no longer absorbs or releases moisture, and remains purely decorative. Our policy is: Lifetime guarantee.

Home-grown, manufactured in Germany

We harvest the mosses where they grow — in northern, central and southern Europe — from our own controlled harvests. From there right through to the handcrafted production in Oppach, we take responsibility for every stage ourselves: we do not purchase any imported goods. Over 25,000 projects completed since 2016.

Think in terms of years, not square metres

A wall that needs replacing after three to five years actually costs many times its purchase price. A wall with a lifetime guarantee costs less each year — and incurs zero ongoing costs: no water, no electricity, no maintenance contract, no replacement. Instead, it is there in the room every day: rich in colour, absorbing and releasing humidity. What you’re buying isn’t just a wall covering, but a sense of well-being you can feel every day. That’s the calculation missing from price comparison websites.

Exclusively at MOOSMOOS

Or you could lease your Moss wall — as a business customer.

No other provider offers you this option: all products and projects as a comprehensive lease for up to six years, with no deposit and no final instalment. The instalments are generally fully tax-deductible as business expenses — and your cash flow remains unburdened: no tied-up liquidity, with predictable monthly instalments instead of a one-off investment. Liquidity remains within the company, and the benefits are felt from day one. Illustrative calculation example: A project worth 10.700 € is equivalent to 48 months at a rate of around 247 € monthly.*

* Illustrative calculation, not a quote. Leasing is available to business customers only; terms and conditions depend on the project, contract term and credit rating. You will be given your specific monthly instalment during a personal consultation.

Before you compare

How you can save money — and what never

–

Moss with surface colouration

It looks exactly the same at first — but it visibly fades because the colour is only a surface coating. Ask every supplier about their dyeing process and the length of the guarantee; their answer will reveal the quality.

–

Imported goods of unknown origin

Many suppliers are retailers, not manufacturers. Without in-house production, there is no quality control, no bespoke manufacturing and, in the event of a complaint, no direct point of contact.

The simplest test: touch the material

You can’t tell how deeply the dye has penetrated from photos — but you can tell straight away when you hold it in your hand. Order our Sample box and compare for yourself before you buy anywhere. That’s exactly what they’re there for.

Costs in detail

Frequently asked questions on the investment

How much does a Moss wall cost per square metre?

Bespoke moss walls start at around €400 per m² — rising to around €1,600 per m² depending on the type of moss and composition. The exact price is determined by the surface area, type of moss, relief depth and installation conditions; larger areas significantly improve the price per square metre. You will receive a specific quote within 24 hours (on working days) during a personal consultation.

What is included in the price?

Handcrafted to order in Oppach, deep-dyed moss from our own sustainable harvest, backing boards and personalised project support — including a lifetime guarantee on the moss. We charge separately for on-site installation, depending on the amount of work involved.

Does the price per square metre go down if the area is larger?

Yes — planning, design and logistics are spread over a larger area. That is precisely why we calculate on a case-by-case basis rather than using a price list: a large area deserves a better rate per square metre.

How much does a moss logo cost?

We’ll quote the additional cost in the draft. It depends on the design, size and technique — and we’ll make this clear before you make your decision.

What are the ongoing costs of a Moss wall?

None. No water, no lighting, no electricity, no maintenance contract, no replacement. Unlike with living plant walls, there are no ongoing running costs after purchase — which is the biggest cost saving over the years.

Can I hire a Moss wall?

Yes — as a business customer, for all products and projects: as a comprehensive lease for up to six years with no down payment and no final instalment. The instalments are generally fully tax-deductible as business expenses, leaving your cash flow free — greening becomes a predictable monthly instalment rather than a one-off investment. We’ll calculate your specific instalment for you during a personal consultation, based on your project.

Why does MOOSMOOS cost a little more than other suppliers?

Because there’s more to it than meets the eye: deep-penetrating colour rather than a surface treatment, sustainably sourced materials, handcrafted in Germany — and a lifetime guarantee, whereas many suppliers only specify a lifespan of three to five years. Calculated over the years, the MOOSMOOS wall is therefore often the more economical choice.

Is the Moss wall tax-deductible?

Usually yes, as a business expense. The fitting-out of business premises can generally be treated in this way — in the case of leasing, as a recurring instalment. It is up to your tax adviser to make the specific assessment; we will provide all the necessary documentation.

Are there fire-resistant versions available?

Yes, we offer specially treated versions for hotels, clinics and public buildings. The additional cost is calculated on a project-by-project basis — please discuss your requirements during the initial consultation.

What is your space? Is it worth it to you?

In ten minutes, we’ll clarify the area, the impact and your specific investment budget — using real figures tailored to your project. On working days, we’ll get back to you within 24 hours.
