Acoustic room dividers made of moss: tranquillity, that you can see.
The noise in your rooms isn’t your fault — it’s down to your surfaces: concrete, glass and exposed ceilings bounce every conversation back into the room. Our room dividers, partition walls and acoustic panels, made from 100% real moss, absorb sound right where it is produced — they’re effective, maintenance-free and more attractive than any felt wall.
The key question is not ‘What should I use to divide the room?’, but “How does the surface affect the sound?” Glass reflects it, felt absorbs it — the open-pored structure of real moss absorbs up to 60% of ambient noise (measured in accordance with DIN EN ISO 354). A Room divider made of moss It is therefore both at the same time: a partition and a sound absorber — and, at the same time, a piece of nature that never needs watering.
Room dividers & partitions made of moss
It divides the room into zones — and creates a sense of calm at the same time.
The detached Moss partition is positioned exactly where noise and sightlines need to be broken up: between work areas, behind seating areas, in front of the bar. Each element is made to order for the specific project — rollable, divisible, with moss on one or both sides, with additional insulation in the core on request, with Your moss logo or built-in lighting. As flexible as your floor plan, as peaceful as the edge of a wood.
Acoustic panels & desk dividers
Peace and quiet on a small scale — right at your workplace.
The Acoustic panel made of moss adds sound absorption to walls and desks: as a framed feature in a meeting room, as a row of panels in the corridor — or as Table divider, which is positioned in the open-plan office right between two conversations. The most compact form of Moos Acoustics, ready to hang straight from the manufactory. And where entire areas need to be used for work, Wall greenery and Ceiling greenery as the largest heat absorbers in the building.
Acoustic columns & free-form designs
The flexible solution — for spaces that change.
Where the conference is being held today and the banquet will take place tomorrow: Acoustic columns, MOOSMOOS Balls and the ultra-light floor vases from the Boule de Fleur collection adapt to the layout of the room — they can be rearranged in minutes, without the need for tools. The ideal choice for the hotel and catering industries, where flexibility is an integral part of the furnishings.
Acoustic panels made from real moss — not in the moss motif
Much of what is sold as a ‘moss acoustic panel’ is simply an MDF or felt panel with a moss picture printed on it. It looks green from a distance of two metres and, in terms of sound, performs just as well as the panel underneath it.
With us, the material itself does the work: preserved moss has an open-cell structure that absorbs sound rather than reflecting it. That is the difference between decoration and absorption — measurable by up to 60% sound absorption in accordance with DIN EN ISO 354.
Every panel is made to measure in Oppach: the dimensions, type of moss and depth of relief are determined by the room and the desired effect, rather than by standard catalogue measurements.
Wall panel
The quietest option: a surface on the wall, where the sound first strikes. Also available as a series across several panels.
Room dividers & table dividers
Absorbs noise at source — between zones, at the workplace, on castors or fixed.
Ceiling elements
In rooms with high ceilings, this is the most effective space, as nobody else uses it — see Ceiling greenery.
Acoustic column & Moss picture
Small spaces that play their part: columns in the room, Moss Pictures on the wall.
How much space do I need?
A rule of thumb for the initial estimate — the exact area depends on the ceiling height, materials and layout:
The article explains where the figures come from and what other options are available, Guide to Improving Room Acoustics.
How much do acoustic panels made of moss cost?
Every piece is made to order — the size, type of moss, relief depth and installation method determine the price. Bespoke moss surfaces start at around €400 per m², whilst projects typically start at around €3,000. The Cost Guide openly.
Moss absorbs the reverberation. And we’ll be honest about what it can’t do.
Up to 60% sound absorption in accordance with DIN EN ISO 354 — the greatest contribution is made by plastic Pole Moss & Bun Moss, It is not for nothing that the Mooslexikon refers to it as ‘the sculpture’. This noticeably reduces reverberation and noise levels, as confirmed by independent research into natural sound absorbers, for example at the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics. The only thing preserved moss cannot do is: Produce oxygen. In every other respect, it performs just as it does in nature — it regulates humidity, absorbs sound and remains soft and colourfast — for a lifetime. For us, being upfront about this is an integral part of our advice.
The path to peace of mind — in four steps
They describe the room
Dimensions, intended use, a photo — and any issues you’ve noticed: echo in the meeting room, noise in the open-plan office, noise in the dining area. That’s all you need for an initial assessment.
We are planning the takeover
Position, surface area and types of moss according to acoustic effect: dividers between the zones, panels on the reflective surfaces — as a design before production begins.
Handcrafted in Oppach
Each piece is crafted in the manufactory on a project-by-project basis — using deep-dyed moss from our own harvest, with a lifetime guarantee on the moss.
Installation rather than a building site
Room dividers and columns are supplied ready for use; our team usually installs the panels in a single day, without causing any mess. Initial feedback: within 24 hours, on working days.
What peace is worth
The framework is determined by size, types of moss, special features (rollable, divisible, insulating core) and whether the moss is applied to one or both sides. We provide a transparent breakdown of the cost for each element in the design — the calculation logic behind this is explained by the Cost Guide.
And weigh this up against the benefits: studies have shown for years that noise in the office hinders concentration and productivity — every hour, every day. An acoustic panel with no ongoing costs, no maintenance and a lifetime guarantee helps to counteract this. Alternatively, business customers can lease their acoustic solution; we’ll outline the options during the consultation.
Moss, felt or glass?
Room divider made of moss by MOOSMOOS
Measurably sound-absorbing, elegantly zoned, and timeless: genuine natural material with deep colouring, a lifetime guarantee and zero maintenance — the only acoustic element that visitors photograph rather than overlook.
Felt & PET partition walls
Functional and ubiquitous — and that is precisely why they are so faceless: the appearance of every business park. Some suppliers now even print photos of moss onto their felt panels. We’ll take that as a compliment; the original remains the original.
Glass & Metal Separator
They share the room, but not the problem: hard surfaces reflect sound rather than absorbing it — the echo remains, only the view is gone.
Four rooms, four noise problems resolved
In an open-plan office
Partitions between the teams, table dividers at each seat: conversations stay where they belong — and so does concentration.
In the catering and hospitality sector
Rolling partitions and columns divide the entire venue into zones and reduce noise levels — from the breakfast room to the banquet hall, all reconfigured in a matter of minutes.
In the meeting room
Panels on the reflective surfaces transform the echoing cube into a space where people can understand one another — even during video calls.
In the surgery and reception area
Privacy is all about acoustics: a moss partition between reception and the waiting area ensures conversations remain private — and welcomes visitors with a touch of nature rather than the grey of a partition wall.
Moos Acoustics in 20 seconds
Materials, effects, possibilities: we explain room dividers, panels and columns to you just as we would in a face-to-face conversation — personally, not through an automated system. By the end, you’ll know which element will bring a sense of calm to your space.

Just how much does moss really improve the acoustics?
Measurable: up to 60% sound absorption in accordance with DIN EN ISO 354 — reverberation is reduced and speech intelligibility is improved. The greatest effect is seen Pole Moss & Bun Moss with its deep cushioning structure; independent research, for example at the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics, also confirms the potential of natural absorbers.
Is that sound absorption or sound insulation?
To be honest: absorption. Moss absorbs the reverberation in the Partition — it doesn’t turn a thin wall into a studio-grade partition separating you from the neighbouring room; that’s what building acoustics are for. If you need both, you can opt for a partition with an additional sound-insulating core.
How much moss will I need for my room?
Rule of thumb: the more hard surfaces there are — concrete, glass, exposed ceilings — the greater the absorbent surface area. We assess whether a single baffle is sufficient or whether the walls and ceiling should also be utilised in the Consultancy based on your measurements and photos.
A freestanding room divider or a Moss wall?
Both are effective — in different ways: the partition combats noise at source and creates zones; Moss wall and Moss ceiling turn large areas into continuous sound-absorbing surfaces. This combination is most effective in an open-plan office.
What special shapes are possible?
Almost everything that bespoke project manufacturing has to offer: rollable, divisible, with moss on one or both sides, and featuring an insulating core. Plus table dividers, acoustic columns and ultra-light floor vases for flexible spaces — every element is made to order for the project; nothing comes from a catalogue.
Can the room divider be fitted with a logo or lighting?
Yes — Your logo made of moss is incorporated into the partition wall, with lighting integrated via the mounting system. This places your brand right at the centre of the room — whilst making it quieter.
Are there fire-resistant versions available?
Yes, our moss products are classified in accordance with DIN EN 13501-1; for projects with specific requirements, we manufacture specially treated versions — priced on a project-by-project basis.
How much does an acoustic room divider made of moss cost?
Size, moss types, special features and moss planting determine the scope — we set out the figures clearly in the design; business customers can lease the service. The logic behind this is explained by the Cost Guide. And you should check the material beforehand using the Sample box.
