The Other Hotel / Restaurant — for the hotel and catering industry

Designing Hotels & Restaurants: What do your guests remember, when they’ve long since gone?

It’s not about the size of the room. It’s not about the television. Guests remember moments — arriving in the lobby, looking up in the restaurant, the tranquillity of the spa. And it is precisely these moments that end up as photos in their reviews, where your next guests make their decisions. The other hotel begins where everyone’s eyes are drawn.

The host’s dilemma

Three truths that every Explaining occupancy statistics

1

Guests book photos, not rooms

The decision on which property to book is made on Google, Booking and Instagram — based on the photos taken by other guests. A property that hasn’t been photographed is invisible on these platforms, no matter how good it is.

2

Four stars look the same everywhere

The same beds, the same buffets, the same lobbies in shades of grey and beige. When hotels differ only in terms of location and price, it’s always the cheaper one that wins — or the one you remember.

3

The noise of a full house

Breakfast room at eight, bar at ten: Hard surfaces echo every sound — and ‘loud’ is one of the most common words in critical hotel reviews. Atmosphere is also determined by what you hear.

The lobby — the first impression of your home

Check-in is a moment, not a process.

One Moss wall behind the reception desk — available on request with Your company logo as an inlay — transforms the moment guests arrive into the moment they take photos, even before they’ve got their room key. That first impression starts working in your favour from day one, helping to boost your reviews.

Restaurant & Bar — quieter and more photogenic

The place where people get their mobile phones out.

A Botanical Sky above the tables Turns your restaurant into a feature — and the open-pored moss structure also measurably reduces noise levels in a full restaurant (up to 60% sound absorption in accordance with DIN EN ISO 354). Mobile room dividers Zoning from breakfast to banquets — just like at Bistro Käfer, where the layout can be changed in a matter of minutes.

Designing a spa and wellness area — nature without a gardener

Wherever there is tranquillity, even a watering can is a nuisance.

In relaxation rooms and lounges, preserved greenery serves a dual purpose: as a symbol of relaxation and as a sound absorber to create true silence — without the need for maintenance staff, watering or the risk of plants dying in guest areas. Even dampier areas, right up to saunas, are feasible provided there is adequate ventilation and the humidity remains moderate; an assessment of your specific space should be included in the Consultancy. The reason why moss thrives in humid conditions is explained in the Encyclopaedia of Mosses.

„From boutique hotels to international chains: wherever hosts create spaces that leave a lasting impression, Moos from Oppach is involved — from the Best Western Hotel Erb and Bistro Käfer to establishments such as Hilton and the Quellenhof.“

What is a memorable space? is worth

Every guest photo of your lobby is free publicity right where bookings are made. Every decibel less in the breakfast room is a complaint that’s never made. And unlike living greenery, moss asks for nothing in return: no water, no gardener, no plant losses in the guest area — with a lifetime guarantee on the moss. The scope is determined by the area and design; the pricing logic is shown in the Cost Guide.

Particularly relevant for hosts: Leasing rather than a backlog of investment. The landscaping becomes a predictable monthly instalment in the operating budget — and we schedule the installation to coincide with your quietest period: prefabricated in Oppach, usually installed in a single day, with no disruption to day-to-day operations. You can inspect the materials in advance with the Sample box.

Frequently asked questions from the hotel and catering industry

Is Moos suitable for a restaurant and breakfast room?

A particular advantage: preserved moss contains neither soil nor moisture, does not attract insects, does not flower and is odourless — exactly what is required in catering environments. At the same time, it measurably reduces the noise level when the venue is full; the details are shown in the Acoustics Collection.

Does that work in the spa as well?

Yes — particularly so in relaxation rooms, lounges and treatment areas. Even more humid areas, including saunas, are feasible, provided they are properly ventilated and the humidity remains moderate; only direct spraying with water is not permitted. Our team will assess the specific conditions in your premises during a personal consultation.

Can the installation be carried out whilst the system is running?

Yes — prefabricated in our manufactory, usually installed in a single day, with no mess or building site disruption. We’ll work with you to arrange the installation for a time when your premises are least busy.

What about fire safety?

Classified in accordance with DIN EN 13501-1. For accommodation establishments subject to specific requirements, we manufacture appropriately treated versions — priced on a project-by-project basis.

How much does it cost — and is leasing an option?

Projects typically start at around €3,000 and are clearly itemised in the quote; as a business customer, you can opt for a leasing arrangement instead. The pricing structure is explained by the Cost Guide.

Can our company logo be incorporated?

Yes — as Inlay in the Moss wall or freestanding lettering, dyed throughout, including in your corporate identity colours; consistent across all sites for necklaces.
